NVIDIA is investing USD1 billion (~RM4190500000) in Nokia to drive the development of AI-RAN, which will be used in future 6G networks. That said, what should you know about it?

Through this investment, NVIDIA holds a 2.9% stake in Nokia. Nokia will utilise NVIDIA's AI computers in its operations, while NVIDIA will integrate Nokia's data centres into its AI infrastructure.

An AI-heavy operation for the company

With AI-RAN communications, more devices with artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities can be natively supported, including at the edge. Concurrent with this announcement, T-Mobile announced it will trial NVIDIA Nokia's 6G AI-RAN technology starting in 2026.

Moreover, all of this is in preparation for the use of generative AI, agents, drones, AR glasses and smart glasses that require fast internet to support the various features required by users.
