Maruti Suzuki hits record 23.4 lakh units, plans 40 lakh capacity expansion
Maruti Suzuki sets a new production record at 23.4 lakh units in FY26, driven by strong demand, key models crossing 2 lakh units, and expansion plans targeting 40 lakh annual capacity.
by Saumya Shubham Jha · India TodayMaruti Suzuki India Limited has set a new benchmark in the Indian automotive industry, recording its highest-ever annual production of over 23.4 lakh units in FY 2025–26. This milestone not only makes it the only OEM in India to achieve such a figure, but also the top-performing facility within Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global manufacturing network.
Leading the production charts were the brand’s volume drivers — Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Maruti Suzuki Baleno — each crossing the 2 lakh unit production mark during the financial year.
Commenting on the achievement, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, highlighted that such large-scale manufacturing in a single country is rare globally. He attributed the success to Maruti Suzuki’s strong ecosystem built over four decades, supported by close collaboration with employees, vendors and dealer partners, along with favourable policy measures like GST 2.0 that boosted market confidence and demand.
The company currently operates manufacturing facilities in Gurugram, Manesar, Kharkhoda and Hansalpur, with a combined installed capacity of 24 lakh units annually. As part of its aggressive expansion strategy, Maruti Suzuki has also identified land at Khoraj Industrial Estate for a fifth plant, which is expected to add another 10 lakh units of annual production capacity once fully operational.
Looking ahead, the company aims to scale its total production capacity to around 40 lakh units per annum, reinforcing India’s position as a key manufacturing and export hub in its global strategy.
