Delhi govt approves Rs 2,500 monthly aid for women under Mahila Samriddhi scheme
by GK NEWS SERVICE · Greater KashmirNew Delhi, Mar 8: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the approval of the Rs 2,500 monthly financial aid for women under the Mahila Samriddhi Scheme, ending days of speculation and political debate. The scheme, launched on International Women’s Day, aims to support women from economically weaker sections. A special committee led by Rekha Gupta, along with ministers Ashish Sood, Virender Sachdeva, and Kapil Sharma, will oversee its implementation. An online portal will be introduced soon, allowing eligible women to register and check the terms and conditions.
The Delhi government has allocated Rs 5,100 crore for the scheme, which was part of the BJP’s election manifesto. The financial aid will be directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The eligibility criteria for applying should be that women should be between the age of 18 to 60 years, she must not hold a government job and should not be receiving any financial assistance from the government, her family income needs to be less than Rs 3 lakh annually. The IT department is developing software to verify applications and prevent duplication. The application process will be linked to Aadhaar, requiring details such as name, address, bank account, and family information.
