SED seeks explanation from lecturers who produced poor results in 2023-24 12th Board exams

Srinagar, Apr 28: In a major development, the School Education Department (SED) has sought explanation from the lecturers for producing poor results of the students in the last 12th class Board examination, session 2023-24.

In this regard, an official communication has been issued to all the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) to seek the explanation from the erring lecturers of various subjects for their poor performance in results and prepare a corrective action plan.

As per the circular issued by Director School Education (DSEK), the administrative department vide letter on August 22 of 2024 forwarded school wise list of lecturers whose result of 10+2 examination for the academic session 2023-24 was found poor and unsatisfactory “in violation of standing norms.”

“The communication was endorsed to all the Chief Education Officers by the Directorate on September 18 of 2024 with the request to furnish the details of these lecturers as desired by the Administrative Department,” the circular reads.

It reads that the information received from the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) was compiled and accordingly submitted to the Administrative Department on November 28 of 2024 “for further necessary action.”

As per DSEK circular, the Administrative Department vide letter No. Edu-Gaz/319/2024- 01 dated, January 22 of 2025 has instructed the directorate to issue advisory for seeking explanation from the erring lecturers of various subjects for their poor performance in results and prepare a corrective action plan with feedback mechanism to ensure the improvement of teaching standards in schools across J&K UTU.

“It is enjoined upon all CEOs to seek explanation from all such lecturers whose result of 10+2 examination for the academic session 2023-24 was found poor and unsatisfactory,” it reads.

The DSEK circular reads that the delinquent lecturers shall submit their reply before the concerned Chief CEO through concerned Principal within weeks’ time.

“The Chief Education Officer concerned shall examine the replies and submit a report in a consolidated manner with specific and candid recommendations to this directorate within 15 days positively, to proceed further in the matter,” the DSEK circular reads.

A copy of the DSEK circular has been issued to the Joint Director Central, North, South Kashmir besides SCERT-K with the “request” to submit a corrective action plan with feedback mechanism to ensure the improvement of teaching standards in schools across J&K, particularly at secondary level.
