Brussels offers everything you could desire from a city break - including beautiful parks for leisurely strolls, museums, stunning architecture, and delectable cuisine. One of the most striking sights is undoubtedly the Grand-Place, a cobbled square encircled by towering guildhalls, historically home to the city's merchants.

You can also delve into its history at the Brussels City Museum, dedicated to the culture and people of this splendid city. Even better, entry is free on the first Sunday of every month.

Brussels is also renowned for its bustling street markets, with the Jeu de Balle flea market being a must-visit. This expansive market boasts an array of stalls selling everything from vintage artwork and eccentric home decor to clothing, jewellery and more - you'll want to set aside a few hours to explore all the vendors.

Another market that often slips under the radar of tourists is the Chasseurs Ardennais, which has a stronger focus on food. Be sure to sample some local delicacies such as the famed Belgian waffles and moules frites.

You certainly won't be lacking in parks to visit in Brussels either. One of the largest in the area, the Bois de la Cambre, offers plenty forests to stroll through, playgrounds and even horse riding.

The Parc Du Cinquantenaire is another sight not to be missed - here you'll discover the imposing Triumphal Arch, Exposition Halls and the Bordiau Halls, which also houses the Museum of Art and History.

For a unique experience, make sure to visit Mini Europe too. Opening in early March, this quirky attraction showcases miniature versions of Europe's most famous landmarks.

Nearby, you'll also find the Atomium, a striking modernist structure representing a crystal molecule of iron, magnified 165 billion times. If you don't manage to snag a bargain in the Eurostar flash sale, then don't worry.

Flights to Charleroi Airport, just outside of Brussels, remain affordable. One-way flights from Manchester kick off at £19, and departures are available from most major airports including Stansted, Glasgow and Liverpool.
