Renault, Nissan Sales Aug 2026 – Duster Hits New Low, Tekton Drops 71% MoM

Renault sales declined 5.74% YoY, while Nissan grew 147.54% with its expanded lineup – Both brands recorded lower volumes compared to July

Renault posted 2,842 units in August 2026, while Nissan recorded 3,426 units. Together, the brands accounted for 6,268 units, compared to 4,399 units a year earlier and 7,811 units in July. Combined volumes grew 42.49% YoY but fell 19.75% MoM.

Renault Sales Breakup Aug 2026 – Triber Leads

Renault’s domestic sales declined 5.74% from 3,015 units in August 2025. Compared to July’s 3,293 units, volumes fell 13.70%, with all four models recording monthly declines. Triber remained the brand’s largest contributor at 1,536 units, accounting for 54.05% of Renault’s sales. However, volumes fell 17.86% from 1,870 units a year earlier and 12.83% from 1,762 units in July.

Kiger followed with 474 units, down 47.91% YoY from 910 units. Its monthly decline was smaller at 5.77%, compared to July’s 503 units. Kwid recorded 426 units, growing 81.28% over a low year-ago base of 235 units, although sales fell 17.44% MoM. Duster registered 406 units, its lowest monthly tally since its launch in March. Sales declined 20.70% from 512 units in July, placing it behind Renault’s other three models in August.

Despite Duster’s addition, Renault’s total remained below its year-ago level. Excluding Duster, the existing Triber, Kiger and Kwid lineup contributed 2,436 units, down 19.20% YoY. Gains from Kwid and the new SUV were insufficient to offset the declines in Triber and Kiger.

Nissan Sales Breakup Aug 2026 – Tekton Decline Pulls Down Monthly Total

Nissan recorded 3,426 units, up 147.54% from 1,384 units in August 2025. The increase was largely driven by Gravite and Tekton, which had no comparable volumes in the year-ago period. Against July’s 4,518 units, however, sales declined 24.17%.

Magnite led with 1,495 units, growing 8.02% YoY and 2.26% MoM. It accounted for 43.64% of Nissan’s August volumes. Gravite followed closely with 1,440 units, up 3.90% from July’s 1,386 units, contributing another 42.03%.

Tekton recorded 491 units in its second month, down sharply from 1,670 units in July. The 70.60% decline translated to 1,179 fewer units. Modest increases from Magnite and Gravite partially cushioned this fall, but could not prevent an overall monthly decline.

More Launches Planned

Renault and Nissan vehicles are manufactured at the same Renault-owned plant in Chennai, while both brands are preparing further portfolio additions. Near-term plans include a Duster hybrid by the end of 2026, followed by seven-seat SUVs associated with the Duster and Tekton lineups in early 2027. Renault’s Bridger sub-4-metre SUV is expected around Diwali 2027.

Renault is also working on Triber turbo and turbo-CNG versions, expected in the coming days. With Triber still contributing more than half of Renault’s volumes, these additions could be particularly significant. For both brands, sustaining sales beyond the initial launch period will be as important as expanding the number of products on offer.
