by Pearl Daniels · RushLaneRenault and Nissan posted strong year-on-year sales growth in May 2026, largely driven by their recently launched new cars. While Renault benefited from the return of Duster, Nissan continued to gain momentum with the new Gravite. However, both brands witnessed a decline in month-on-month volumes compared to April.
Renault Sales May 2026
Renault sold 4,113 units in May 2026, registering a 64.39% YoY growth over 2,502 units sold in May 2025. Compared to April 2026, however, sales declined 24.02% from 5,413 units. Triber remained Renault’s highest-selling model with 1,890 units, accounting for 45.95% of the brand’s total sales.
The biggest contributor to Renault’s growth, however, was the return of Duster, which added 1,267 units in its first full months of sales and already commands a 30.8% share of the company’s portfolio. Kiger continued to deliver steady numbers with 656 units, up 19.06% YoY, while Kwid remained under pressure with sales dropping 44.44% to 300 units. Renault has recently added new variants to the Kiger lineup, which are likely to help push sales further in coming months.
Nissan Sales May 2026
Nissan reported sales of 2,948 units in May 2026, more than doubling volumes from 1,354 units sold in May last year. This translates to an impressive 117.73% YoY growth. Month-on-month sales, however, declined 7.96% from 3,203 units recorded in April.
Magnite continued as Nissan India’s best-selling vehicle with 1,665 units, contributing 56.48% of total sales. The newly introduced Gravite added another 1,283 units, already accounting for 43.52% of Nissan’s monthly volumes. Nissan is getting ready to unveil their Tekton SUV on 9th July. Launch is expected to take place in coming weeks. Being touted as the Baby Patrol SUV for India, launch of Tekton could take Nissan India sales to a new high.
New Launches Driving Growth
For both alliance partners, recent car launches have become key growth drivers. Renault’s Duster and Nissan’s Gravite together contributed 2,550 units in May, significantly boosting overall volumes and helping offset the slowdown in older models. Among Renault’s existing products, Triber continues to be the volume backbone, while Kiger has maintained stable demand. Kwid, on the other hand, remains the weakest performer in the portfolio with sales continuing to decline.
