Spain, Portugal hit by major power outage

Spain and Portugal are holding emergency Cabinet meetings as evacuations from some public spaces were underway. It is not yet clear what caused the blackouts.

• Large parts of Spain and Portugal, including their capitals Madrid and Lisbon, have been hit by power outages on Monday
• Some areas in southern France were also briefly affected 
• Portuguese and Spanish Cabinets convened emergency meetings
• Spanish power distributor Red Electricaes says it could take up to 10 hours to restore power across the country
