TAIPEI : Taiwan's central bank kept its benchmark interest rate on hold on Thursday as expected, given the strong performance of the island's tech-focused economy.

The central bank left the benchmark discount rate at 2 per cent.

In a Reuters poll, 30 out of 32 economists surveyed had anticipated the bank would hold the line on its rate at 2 per cent.
