Budget 2026–27: Centre Announces Sustainable Mountain Trails for J&K
by Northlines · NorthlinesNew Delhi, Feb 1: The Centre on Sunday announced the development of ecologically sustainable mountain trails in Jammu and Kashmir as part of the Union Budget 2026–27, aimed at promoting eco-friendly tourism while protecting fragile ecosystems.
Presenting the Budget in Parliament, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Jammu and Kashmir will be developed for sustainable mountain trails under the new initiative.
She said similar projects will also be taken up in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, the Araku Valley in the Eastern Ghats and the Western Ghats to encourage responsible tourism and conservation.
In addition, the Finance Minister announced the development of turtle trails along key nesting sites in Odisha, Karnataka and Kerala to support conservation efforts and promote sustainable tourism. (KNC)
