Govt Slashes Excise Duty on Petrol, Diesel by Rs 10/Litre Amid West Asia Crisis
by Northlines · NorthlinesNEW DELHI: The Central government has reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per litre each for domestic consumption, aiming to shield consumers from rising fuel prices amid the ongoing West Asia crisis.
Announcing the decision, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the move is intended to protect citizens from price volatility and ensure affordability of essential fuels.
She also stated that export duties have been imposed on diesel at Rs 21.5 per litre and on Aviation Turbine Fuel at Rs 29.5 per litre to maintain adequate domestic availability of these fuels.
