Amazon (AMZN) reports $33 billion in Q3 2025 AWS revenue
Days after its massive AWS outage, Amazon reported that it continues to bring money to the company.
by Ozzie Mejia · ShacknewsAmazon (AMZN) issued its Q3 2025 earnings report on Thursday. The company has shown profitability across multiple avenues. One of the segments that the company focused on, in particular, was Amazon Web Services. AWS segment sales have increased 20 percent year-over-year to $33 billion USD.
"AWS is growing at a pace we haven’t seen since 2022, re-accelerating to 20.2% YoY," Amazon President and CEO Andy Jassey said in the Amazon Q3 2025 earnings report. "We continue to see strong demand in AI and core infrastructure, and we’ve been focused on accelerating capacity – adding more than 3.8 gigawatts in the past 12 months. In Stores, we continue to realize the benefits of innovating in our fulfillment network, and we’re on track to deliver to Prime members at the fastest speeds ever again this year, expand same-day delivery of perishable groceries to over 2,300 communities by end of year, and double the number of rural communities with access to Amazon’s Same-Day and Next-Day Delivery."
Amazon also noted that the AWS segment operating income figure came in at $11.4 billion, which is up $1 billion year-over-year. This number factors in the severance costs related to planned role eliminations, of which there have been many across multiple departments. While Amazon touting the numbers for AWS is to be expected on a quarterly earnings day, the timing isn't ideal for the company given that a recent AWS outage disrupted businesses around the world on a massive scale.
The AWS figures help contribute to an overall positive Q3 2025 earnings number for Amazon, even in the wake of its massive layoffs as a result of its continued pursuit of AI. There will undoubtedly be more to learn from Jassy during the Amazon (AMZN) Q3 2025 earnings call. You can listen to that live and on-demand on the Shacknews YouTube channel.
