Prince William Is “Deeply Unhappy” With King Charles Right Now

  • Prince William is "unhappy" that his disgraced uncle Prince Andrew has technically retained his title.
  • While Andrew is no longer using "Duke of York," the title hasn't been legally removed.
  • William plans to formally strip Prince Andrew of his titles when he's king.

Prince Andrew voluntarily gave up the use of his Duke of York title—but he hasn't been stripped of it entirely. However! All that could change when Prince William becomes King William V.

The Daily Mail reports that William is "understood to be unhappy with the compromise brokered by his father King Charles" which allowed Prince Andrew to technically keep his title.

Royal author Tom Sykes tells the outlet that "William is deeply unhappy with what he sees as a bodged agreement on Andrew—he wants him out and he is likely to do this as soon as he can. Almost as soon as he becomes King, William is planning to formally banish Andrew from the Royal Family."

This will involve a "letters patent" / executive royal order—and on top of that, William is trying to figure out if he can legally oust Andrew from the Royal Lodge (his home in Windsor that's just a few miles away from Forest Lodge, where the Waleses are moving).

Sykes also confirmed previous reports that William is considering stripping other royals of their titles, saying, "As King, William would immediately strip Prince Andrew of his title. But might also consider removing the titles from a number of others. He is looking at the whole family and wondering if it should be streamlined and if so how. But currently there are no decisions beyond one: Andrew is almost certainly going. The question of potentially trimming others is still in its early stages of discussion though."
