Royal Kids' Titles to Undergo Shocking Change Once Prince William Is King William V
· Cosmopolitan- Prince William has massive changes in store for his kids' royal future once he's king.
- Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis might have their titles parked.
- Title removal is being "discussed in Prince William's circle."
Prince William is poised to become King William V, and first on his to-do list? Un-titling a bunch of royal family members. Obviously this includes Prince Andrew, but there are reports that William could also eliminate the prince/princess titles of other royals—including Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Prince Harry, and even his own children.
The Daily Beast recently reported that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will likely have their royal titles "parked" until they're old enough to decide if they want to be "working royals" or not. If they do, they'll once again go by "prince/princess." If they don't, they'll simply be known as George, Charlotte, and Louis.
Meanwhile, royal author Tom Sykes spoke to the Daily Mail and said "As King, William would immediately strip Prince Andrew of his title. But might also consider removing the titles from a number of others. He is looking at the whole family and wondering if it should be streamlined and if so how. But currently there are no decisions beyond one: Andrew is almost certainly going. The question of potentially trimming others is still in its early stages of discussion though."
Royal author Robert Jobson also noted that title removal is being "discussed in Prince William's circle" and that "the pluses are that it's seen as being more appetizing to the public to have fewer titled – and sometimes seemingly entitled – members of the family. The downside would be the potential awkwardness and bad feeling around those affected."
