Tesco, Aldi, Sainsbury's, Lidl, Asda, Morrisons changing opening times this week

Tesco, Aldi, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Asda and Lidl are all changing supermarket opening times this week. The changes from the supermarkets come as we head towards Christmas, with Christmas Eve on Tuesday (December 24) and Christmas Day the following day.

Boxing Day takes place on Thursday, December 26, while New Year's Day is just over a week away. On Christmas Eve larger Tesco stores will opening as normal between 6am and 7am but closing earlier at between 6pm and 7pm.

Tesco's smaller convenience stores will be open later on Christmas Eve with the majority of stores opening between 6am and 7am and closing at 10pm. All Tesco stores across the country will be closed on Christmas Day, the biggest grocer in the UK has confirmed.

On Boxing Day, larger Tesco stores will be trading from 9am until around 6pm. However Extra sites will be open for longer from 9am until 7pm. Some smaller city centre Tesco stores will also stay closed on Boxing Day, the retailer has said.

On Christmas Eve, Lidl will reduce its opening hours. It will open at 7am as normal but will close earlier, at either 6pm or 7pm, depending on the site, before closing on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, the German discounter has said.

Aldi will remain closed on Christmas Day as well as Boxing Day. Supermarket stores will open again on Friday, December 27, where most branches will welcome customers from 8am until 8pm, the supermarket retailer has said.

Morrisons superstores will be closed on Christmas Day. On Boxing Day the majority of sites open later at around 9am and closing earlier at 6pm. From December 27, most stores will be reverting back to their normal hours.

After closing on Christmas Day, Sainsbury’s is set to reopen on Boxing Day but with reduced hours, opening between 9am and 6pm - this also includes its convenience store sites. After closing on December 25, Asda will open all of its stores once again on Boxing Day,

The majority of stores will open between 8am and 9am.
