by India Lawrence · Time Out LondonLondon is pretty great. We’re packed full of world-class restaurants, museums, theatres and host top cultural events, like Fashion Week, Notting Hill Carnival and Pride every single year. So, we are very pleased to say that for the 10th year in a row, London has been crowned the best city in the world. Are we that surprised?
While we might have our own ranking of the world’s best cities (which you should definitely check out), there are also other lists. The annual Resonance report has just dropped, and they put the Big Smoke in first place for 2025.
Resonance surveyed more than 22,000 people from 30 countries around the world to rank the top cities. They analysed the principal cities of metropolitan areas with populations of more than 1 million, as well as taking into account user-generated data from Google, TripAdvisor and Instagram.
London took the top spot thanks to its first-place rating for nightlife and airport connectivity. The ranking noted the Elizabeth line, Gatwick airport’s mega upgrade and the new Camden Highline as some of the reason’s the UK capital came out on top for 2025. It was also named a top destination for students and businesses.
‘Navigating the complexities of a post-Brexit era, geopolitical uncertainties and economic challenges, London’s resilient spirit and unmatched global appeal have solidified its place at the pinnacle of our annual ranking,’ the report wrote. ‘As one of the most desirable destinations for students, foreign investors, tourists and business leaders, London boasts a magnetic draw for people from all walks of life, ranking on top of our overall Lovability index this year.’
