Yoshi P: Final Fantasy XIV on Switch 2 has some framerate issues, but “you don’t have to be concerned”
· My Nintendo NewsSquare Enix finally revealed that Final Fantasy XIV is heading to the Nintendo Switch 2 platform this summer and there’s a lot of content to sink your teeth into. However, Yoshi P says that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game will feature some framerate issues, but it’s doing all it can to mitigate them as the team is striving to get the best performance out of the system. Here’s what he said:
“I want to be honest with you, we are working really hard on the optimisation,” he said, on the topic of the console’s specs, continuing, “We are striving to get the best performance.”
He noted that, in certain areas, players may see framerate drops, explaining, “I think with the towns, you may see a lower framerate, only because there are so many players that are rendered on the screen.”
“We are still able to reach 30 frames per second in a stable state, and so, considering Duty content, I think the performance is something that you don’t have to be concerned about.”
The Nintendo Switch 2 is a wonderful console, and I think you can choose the way you want to play,” he noted, referencing the differences between docked and handheld mode, and the availability of mouse controls.
“You are more free to choose which mode to play in, so I hope that players will find the way to play that is most suited for themselves.”
