Jennifer Lawrence refused intimacy coordinator with Robert Pattinson
by DEIRDRE DURKAN-SIMONDS, US ASSOCIATE SHOWBUSINESS EDITOR · Mail OnlineJennifer Lawrence has revealed why she turned down the use of an intimacy coordinator while filming her new psychological drama Die My Love with Robert Pattinson.
While appearing on the Las Culturistas podcast, the Oscar winner, 34, opened up about feeling completely comfortable shooting explicit scenes with her co-star, 39.
'We did not have [an intimacy coordinator], or maybe we did but we didn't really,' Lawrence explained. 'I felt really safe with Rob. He is not pervy and very in love with [his partner] Suki Waterhouse.'
The actress said the pair shared an easy trust on set, adding that they spent most of their time 'talking about our kids and relationships.'
'There was never any weird like, "Does he think I like him?"' she said. 'If there was a little bit of that I would probably have an intimacy coordinator. A lot of male actors get offended if you don't want to f*** them, and then the punishment starts. He was not like that.'
Lawrence's bold performance in Die My Love has already drawn widespread acclaim and early Oscar buzz, with critics praising her fearless portrayal of a woman unraveling under the weight of motherhood.
In the Lynne Ramsay–directed film, Lawrence plays Grace, a writer and young mother, who is slowly slipping into madness.
The movie follows her terrifying descent into psychosis after childbirth while her companion, Jackson (Pattinson), becomes increasingly 'useless.'

The Hunger Games star also appears nude in the film, which she shot while pregnant with her second child, and said she approached the experience with newfound confidence.
'I don't care about nudity. I'm not sensitive about it,' Lawrence said at a recent screening, according to Vulture. 'I wanted Lynne to have total freedom artistically.'
She contrasted the project with her last nude-heavy role in No Hard Feelings, admitting she had previously obsessed over diet and appearance before filming the raunchy comedy.
'I think being pregnant took a lot of vanity anxiety away,' Lawrence said. 'Before No Hard Feelings, I was dieting and not eating carbs and working out. I was pregnant [for Die My Love]. Like, what was I gonna do? Not eat? I was working 15 hours a day. I was just tired.'
She even laughed off offers to digitally retouch her body on screen.
'I remember, like, them sending over a close-up of cellulite and being like, "Do you want us to touch this up?" And I was like, "No. That's an a**."'
Lawrence previously on The Graham Norton Show that she has a close friendship with Pattinson.
'So I had my girlfriends over, we were in our pajamas, we were watching Little Women. It was December,' she explained. 'He was like, "Hey, I just wrapped something like a block away from you." And I was like, "Oh my God!" 'Cause Rob is one of the girls. He wants to gossip. He just is one of the gals. And so I was like, "Come over!"
'But he's also like my daughter. He's a great father, he's a professional, he shows up on time, but I wouldn't trust that he, like, put a coat on... He's not going to eat on time... He brings out a very maternal.'
'He comes in, and I give him a hug, and he's like, "You have any food? I'm so hungry,"' the actress said. 'And I'm like, "Yeah, yeah, yeah! Come in, come in!"'
'He goes to the bathroom, and I do have food, but it's in the trash,' she added. 'And so while he was in the bathroom, I was just, like, pulling food out of my garbage can.
'And my girlfriends were like,' she said, before imitating their jaw-dropped expressions. 'And I'm like,' she says, waving her hand.
'So he eats it and we're all just kind of watching him eat this trash, and then when he was finished, he was like, "I'm still hungry, is there more?"'
'And I'm like, "Well there is, but it's in the garbage."'
Shockingly, Lawrence says Pattinson helped himself to seconds of the trashed food.
'He was like, "Oh, I don't mind." 'And he just pulled it out of the trash and kept eating it,' she claimed.
The actress also revealed during the talk show that she and Pattinson perform a naked interpretive dance in the film.
Lawrence laughed: 'Lynne Ramsay the director challenged us during rehearsals, Robert Pattinson and I had to do interpretative dance lessons together. We both embarrass quite easily, and we didn't really know each other so it was totally humiliating'.
'Then on the first day of filming she asked whether we remembered what we did and asked if we would do it naked.'.
Fellow show guests Bruce Springsteen, Jeremy Allen White and Tessa Thompson were stunned and left full of questions, to which Jennifer quipped: 'Should I have said no? You all seem quite shocked'.
Speaking about how she landed the role she said: 'Martin Scorsese brought this to us after he had read the book at his book club, which is adorable'.
'He said I should play the character. When I read the book, I had had a hard time imagining it as a movie, but I wasn’t going to correct Marty!'.
