Love Island's Maura Higgins betrayed by Traitors co-star

Love Island star Maura Higgins was left furious as she was betrayed at the final hurdle on the US Traitors by her co-star Rob Rauch.

The reality TV contestant was seen branding him an 'absolute a***hole' and hit out he will 'never have a girlfriend' again as he revealed he'd been playing her the whole series, taking home the winnings for himself as a Traitor.

Maura, 35, made it all the way to the final of the American spin-off of the BBC series as a Faithful, alongside her fellow Love Island star Rob, 27.

The duo became so close during their time on the show, which is presented by Alan Cumming, that fans were convinced there was romance sparking between the pair.

But this week, it all came crashing down when Rob revealed himself as a Traitor at the final roundtable and claimed the entire prize money, leaving Faithful Maura in shock.

Maura went silent in total shock as Rob revealed his identity, despite the pair having agreed to split the $220,800 (£163,831).

'No, you're joking?' Maura finally said, before Rob continued: 'This whole game I’ve been a Traitor.'

Maura then fumed: 'Oh my god. I’m so stupid. I was so fooled by you. You absolute a***hoe. You pinky promised! You’re a piece of work.'

'I was so convinced… you’ve embarrassed me,' Maura continued, and as Rob tried to speak, she spoke over him: 'Don't speak, please stop talking.

'You’re never going to have a girlfriend after this, you’re such a good liar!'

Maura later calmed down, and when she spoke to the cameras after the big reveal moment admitted that she would have 'done the same' in order to win.

She explained: 'I would’ve done the same, I think I’m just in shock – I actually thought I was winning!'

In January, Maura addressed romance rumours with her co-star on The Traitors US - after fans spotted 'chemistry' between them.

Fans have picked up on apparent chemistry between Maura and fellow player Rob, and admitted they were hoping they get together.

While appearing on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live, the Irish star broke her silence on this speculation as she was quizzed about their relationship.

It saw Andy ask her: 'The internet wants you and Rob to get together, and?'

To which Maura responded: 'I saw, there's a lot of videos on TikTok at the moment.'

Continuing, Andy followed up with: 'And what do you think?'

Maura coyly replied: 'I mean, you’ll have to watch the show to see if that happened.'

The pair knew each other through Love Island US, where Rob appeared as a contestant in 2023 and 2024.

It comes after Maura reportedly landed a six-figure deal with Victoria's Secret.

The former Love Island star has been busy breaking into the American market in recent months and is now working on a collaboration with the lingerie brand.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives of Maura Higgins for comment.

Along with her fellow series five contestant Molly-Mae Hague, Maura has gone on to become one of most successful Love Islanders in the show's history.

She signed with Creative Arts Agency in LA last year to manage her career in the US.

Months after her successful Love Island stint, Maura appeared on Dancing On Ice at the beginning of 2020, Cooking With The Stars in 2022 and I'm A Celeb in 2024.

Along with her success at home, she has also branched out across the pond thanks to a hosting gig on Love Island USA: Aftersun.

The star also attended the Golden Globe Awards with Hollywood A-listers in January.

She also similarly impressed American viewers during her unapologetic appearance on Celebrity Traitors US, aiding her star to rise like never before.
