MediEvil PS4 Remake Gets Unofficial PC Port
by John Papadopoulos · DSOGamingAnd here comes another one. An unofficial PC port of the PS4 remake of MediEvil has just been released. As such, PC gamers can enjoy this action-adventure game that was never officially ported to PC.
Going into more detail, the MediEvil PC port lets you play the game from start to finish. It supports the intro movies, menus, gameplay, sound, saves, and loads. It also works with Intel and AMD CPUs, as well as DualSense, Xbox, and other gamepads. You can use a keyboard, too, and change the controls to suit your needs.
The game runs at 60 FPS by default. You can raise the limit to 120 or 240 FPS in the launcher or in-game menu. Higher frame rates are still a work in progress, though. They can cause stutter and require a fast CPU. On an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080, the game runs at about 90 to 120 FPS in levels and up to 120 FPS in menus.
The PC port also supports resolutions up to 4K, and it has support for temporal upscaling to boost performance if your GPU is not powerful enough. Moreover, you can pick Low, Medium, Console, High, or Ultra graphics. Higher settings add better shadows, reflections, and detail at a distance. The port also fixes shadow flicker and limits shadow work to help keep busy areas near 60 FPS.
Sound works through the game’s own audio system. The port also mixes surround sound for stereo speakers and headphones. You can choose from all languages found in the PS4 version, no matter which region your copy comes from. If the game lacks text in a chosen language, that text appears in English.
You can save and load your game, with a backup made before each launch. The launcher can install the game from a PKG file and resume if the process stops. It can also check for new releases on GitHub and install updates.
The launcher has a look inspired by MediEvil, with art and fonts taken from your own game copy. It brings key tools into one place, from display and sound options to saves, controls, mods, patches, and cheats. You can also view logs and run checks to help find faults. An in-game menu gives quick access to image settings, VSync, FSR 1, sharpening, frame limits, and live performance data.
You can go ahead and download the PC port from here. As always, it does not contain any in-game assets. To play it, you’ll have to provide your own disc image/ISO.
