'Dhadak 2' Trailer: Another Caste Based Film

The Dhadak 2 trailer has hit the internet today. After the successful first part released in 2018 as Janhvi Kapoor’s debut film, this sequel now features Triptii Dimri in the female lead, while the male lead is played by Siddhant Chaturvedi.

The film is directed by Shazia Iqbal. While the first film was based on the Marathi hit Sairat, Dhadak 2 is based on Pariyerum Perumal, a 2018 Tamil film by Mari Selvaraj.

The trailer content feels predictable, showing romantic moments between the lead actors and a slow buildup of intensity.

There are a few light scenes and dance numbers, followed by the emergence of caste conflict. It seems to present the caste struggles of college students as a never-ending battle.

While Dhadak focused on honour killing and family emotions, Dhadak 2 appears to address caste issues as a larger social evil.

Produced by Karan Johar, Umesh Kumar Bansal, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Meenu Aroraa, Somen Mishra, and Pragati Deshmukh, with co-producer Marijke deSouza, the film is set to release on 1st August.
