Ajith's Shocking Payment For 'Good Bad Ugly'

Tamil star Ajith follows a unique practice that has recently come to light. His remuneration per film is Rs 165 crore plus GST and he takes the entire amount in white, like most Tamil stars.

However, the payment structure is where it gets unusually strict.

Upon signing the agreement, Ajith takes 10% of his fee upfront. The remaining amount must be paid in a very specific manner, as dictated by Ajith’s office.

As per the terms, the producer must credit Rs 15 crore on the 5th of every month. If the 5th falls on a Sunday or a public holiday, the producer must ensure the amount is credited on the 4th itself, never on the 6th.

This rigid schedule caused significant stress for the producers of Good Bad Ugly, who had to scramble to arrange the money from sources every month, creating recurring financial tension.

Because of this setup, interest rates in the informal financing network often fluctuate, depending on demand and the timing of payments.

On the whole, it’s a hero-driven industry where stars dictate the terms — and everyone else follows. That’s the current plight of the film business in India.
