Pahalgam Attack: Fawad Khan’s 'Abir Gulaal' Shelved, Film Songs Removed From YouTube India
by SpotboyE Team · SpotboyEFollowing the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Zee Music Company has taken down the song Khudaya from YouTube India. Featuring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor, the track was part of the upcoming Indo-Pak project Khudaya Ishq. The decision was made after widespread outrage on social media, where users demanded a ban on all collaborations with Pakistani artists in light of the incident.
Khudaya Ishq was a cross-border music video created by India’s Zee Music Company and Pakistan’s Hamdan Films, featuring a cross-cultural team. After the attack, the song's teaser—released just a few days prior—was met with sharp criticism online. The official video was uploaded on April 21 but is no longer visible on YouTube India.
Angry netizens expressed their disapproval on social platforms. One user wrote, “Why is @ZeeMusicCompany promoting Pakistani artists after a terror attack?” Another commented, “Shameful. Indian soldiers are being killed, and you’re launching songs with Pakistani actors.” The hashtags #BanFawadKhan and #BoycottZeeMusic trended on X (formerly Twitter).
Reacting to the backlash, Zee Music Company removed the song from Indian YouTube. However, it is still accessible in other countries.
According to the official statement from Zee Music, “We are extremely saddened by the attack on our brave soldiers in Pahalgam, and in solidarity with the nation, we have taken down the song Khudaya from YouTube India. We remain committed to respecting the sentiments of our fellow Indians.”
The incident has reignited debates over Indo-Pak cultural exchanges, especially during periods of political tension. While cross-border collaborations in music and cinema have occurred in the past, they often draw criticism during times of conflict, highlighting the ongoing sensitivity surrounding such partnerships.
