Zarine Khan Passes Away At 81: Bollywood Mourns The Loss Of Sussanne And Zayed Khan’s Mother

Zarine Khan, wife of veteran actor Sanjay Khan and mother to actor Zayed Khan, designer Sussanne Khan and interior-style influencer Farah Khan Ali, passed away today at the age of 81. 

A respected figure in Mumbai's social and family circles, Zarine had always been a supportive presence behind her children and husband at the many film-industry gatherings and family celebrations. 

Zarine and Sanjay Khan were married in 1966, and she is survived by their four children: Zayed, Sussanne, Farah and Simone Arora.  Not only was she a socialite, she once acted as Jenny Fernandes, secretary to Dev Anand’s character in the 1963 film Tere Ghar Ke Saamne. 

Her creative streak extended beyond the screen into writing: she authored Family Secrets: The Khan Family Cookbook, which offered insight into the family’s personal recipes and culinary traditions. 

In a recent appearance on Farah Khan Ali’s vlog, Zarine reminisced fondly about hosting family occasions at Sanjay’s home, including Farah’s own mehendi ceremony, while being joined by her longtime cook Dilip. 

The Bollywood community is mourning the departure of a cherished matriarch whose warmth and presence enriched the lives of her family and friends. Her legacy of love, support and creativity will live on through those she leaves behind.
