Strictly's Wynne Evans set to make BBC return after quitting tour over 'inappropriate' remark

by · ChronicleLive

Wynne Evans is set to be back on TV in just a matter of days in a new show, after quitting the Strictly Come Dancing live tour over an 'inappropriate' remark made about a colleague.

Having competed on the most recent series of the BBC show, opera singer and radio host Wynne joined many of his Strictly co-stars on the road for the annual live tour, which kicked off in Birmingham earlier this month, before visiting Sheffiield, Newcastle and Glasgow last week. Wynne suffered a nasty ankle injury in Newcastle, which ruled him out of the first tour dates in Glasgow and now, he has announce he is 'taking some time out' from taking part, following allegations of a lewd comment he made about a female co-star, during the press launch for the tour.

Releasing a statement on Tuesday evening, Wynne wrote: "I've agreed with the BBC that I'll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing, I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection."

Wynne, famous for being the voice of the Go Compare adverts, added: "I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection."

While he will no longer be dancing with pro partner Katya Jones on tour, Wynne has been on TV this week in a new series with Gavin & Stacey star Joanna Page All at Sea made its debut in a primetime slot on BBC One at the start of this week, with the second episode set to air at the same time on February 3.
