Strictly's Jamie Borthwick has 'unexpected' EastEnders reunion in Newcastle after tour date

by · ChronicleLive

Jamie Borthwick enjoyed a reunion with an an ex EastEnders xo-star in Newcastle this week, as one of his famous pals performed in the city at the same time he was in action on the Strictly Come Dancing live tour.

Given that he won the 2023 Strictly Christmas special, the fact that soap favourite Jamie was on the line-up for the BBC show last year caused a bit of a stir, with some critics arguing that he had an 'unfair' advantage over his fellow celebrities. Sadly for Jamie, he didn't manage to get his hands on the Glitterball for a second time, with him voted out weeks before the final, in a result that left plenty of fans both shocked and upset.

The actor, best known for playing Jay Brown in EastEnders, is back in the Strictly fold for the annual live tour, with the cast arriving in Newcastle on Wednesday for the first of three shows at the Utilita Arena. And the timing of the tour being on Tyneside could not have worked out better, as Jamie was in Newcastle at the exact same time as Max Bowden, known to BBC viewers for playing Ben Mitchell; as he took to the stage at the Theatre Royal in Birdsong.

Last year millions tuned in to see Max make a moving exit from EastEnders, after Ben was found guilty of committing fraud whilst in America and deported to the US to serve jail time over there. The turn of events left Ben's nearest and dearest, including Jamie's character Jay, completely stunned, but, moving on from all that drama Jamie and Max were all smiles when they caught up in the Toon.

Max uploaded a photo of the pair to his Instagram story and captioned it: "We find each other everywhere," with the shot quickly being shared on social media, as one fan wrote: "Love a little reunion! With both Birdsong and Strictly being in Newcastle it was the perfect opportunity for Max to reunite with Jamie"
