Strictly tour date postponed due to Storm Eowyn as cast prepare to leave Newcastle

by · ChronicleLive

Just as the Strictly Come Dancing cast were gearing up to give their final performance in Newcastle on Thursday night, it was announced that Friday's tour date in Glasgow had been postponed due to Storm Eowyn.

Always a huge hit with audiences of all ages, the Strictly tour is something that viewers of the BBC show look forward to year after year and, after opening at the end of last week in Birmingham, before moving onto Sheffield, the tour arrived in Newcastle on Wednesday, for the first of three shows at the Utilita Arena.

Given the tight schedule for the tour, the Strictly stars were expected to travel through the night to get to their next stop, Glasgow, in time to perform there on Friday night and for two shows on Saturday. However, on Thursday event, posts were made on both the Strictly tour Instagram page and by the OVO Arena, to confirm that, due to Scotland being given a red weather warning with the onset of Storm Eowyn, and public transport cancelled as a precaution, a decision had been made to switch the Friday evening date to Sunday.

The statement read: "Due to the red weather warning in place tomorrow, the Friday evening performance of Strictly Come Dancing: The Live Tour will be rescheduled to Sunday evening, 26 January.

"Doors will open at 17.30 and the performance will start at 18.30. Original tickets remain valid for this show. If guests are unable to attend they should contact their point of purchase for a refund. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause"

The first show of the Strictly 2025 tour in Newcastle was won by Sarah and Vito, before Tasha and Aljaz took the Glitterball on Thursday afternoon and Thursday night.
