New suitors make bid for Crystal Palace star – Eagles aren’t interested for now
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessCrystal Palace have rejected an offer from AC Milan for striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, despite him having an agreement with the Italian side.
That’s according to Foot Mercato. They report that AC Milan have stepped forward with an official offer for the striker.
They report that Milan have been searching for a striker for a while. After exploring several options and profiles, they are still looking for the right fit. They believe the Crystal Palace star could be that man.
The 28-year-old has taken his game to another level in recent years under Oliver Glasner. And now he appears to be pushing for an exit from Selhurst Park this month.
Milan have tested the waters on that front. They made an offer for the striker today, (Friday). The nature of that bid isn’t made clear. But it was rejected instantly by Crystal Palace. That is despite the French striker having already agreed personal terms with the Italian club.
Mateta has suitors all over Europe after signalling his intent to leave Crystal Palace. Juventus were believed to be at the front of the queue, but they’ve grown tired of rising demands from the Eagles and the player’s representatives. Aston Villa have even been credited with an interest.
Now it appears to be Milan making moves. Their first attempt has, though, been outright rejected by Crystal Palace.
