Percy Jackson And The Olympians season two is under way, but will it be back for a third? Read on to find out.

The fantasy series launched with its first season in December 2023, and on Wednesday (December 10), it returned to Disney+ with the first two episodes of season two. Subsequent instalments will arrive every week until the season finale on January 21.

It is based on the books of the same name by Rick Riordan, and has been developed for the screen by Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg. Walker Scobell (The Adam Project) stars as the 12-year-old title character, a young demigod and the son of Poseidon, alongside Leah Sava Jeffries (Empire) as Annabeth Chase, and Aryan Simhadri as Jackson’s best friend Grover Underwood.

Other recurring roles in the show include comic actor Jason Mantzoukas’ Dionysus/Mr. D, Timothy Simons’ King Tantalus and professional wrestler Adam Copeland as Ares, the god of war. Guest stars also include Lin-Manuel Miranda, Lance Reddick and Jay Duplass.

To date, there have been seven novels published in the Percy Jackson series, including 2024’s Wrath Of The Triple Goddess, with the saga telling the tale of the young Jackson, who is faced with preventing the Titans, led by Kronos, from destroying the world. The books have sold more than 180 million copies worldwide.

There have also been two feature films made based on the series: 2010’s Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief and follow-up Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters in 2013.

The second season might only be premiering this month, but the fate of the show has already been confirmed for nine months.

In March, Disney+ officially renewed Percy Jackson And The Olympians for a third season, revealing that the next run of episodes will adapt Riordan’s third Percy Jackson novel, The Titan’s Curse

Production on season three began over the summer, with filming taking place in Vancouver. It has not been confirmed, but EW have reported that Kate McKinnon will be added to the cast in the role of Aphrodite.

The showrunners have publicly stated that they would like to adapt all five of the core Percy Jackson books, but Disney will make the decision over whether to extend to a fourth season after the current second season has completed its run.
