‘Elden Ring’ player to fight ‘Shadow Of The Erdtree’s toughest boss every day until spin-off launch
'Nightreign' is expected to arrive in 2025
by Ali Shutler · NMEOne Elden Ring player has vowed to take on one of Shadow Of The Erdtree’s toughest bosses every day until spin-off Nightreign is released.
Elden Ring’s multiplayer spin-off Nightreign was announced last month, and will challenge teams of three players to work together to survive a long weekend in the frosty land of Limgrave as well as defeat different bosses from a number of FromSoftware titles. The game is set to launch at some point in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
One Elden Ring fan is already getting impatient though. YouTuber Chickensandwich420 has vowed to defeat Messmer The Impaler every single day until Nightreign arrives. To make the challenge even harder, the player will use a different weapon on every attempt and will only be successful if they beat Messmer without getting hit themselves.
Messmer The Impaler was introduced in Elden Ring DLC Shadow Of The Erdtree, and is considered one of the toughest bosses in the game, thanks to a two-part battle. Chickensandwich420 is fighting the NG+7 version of the demigod, which is the toughest variant.
“Originally, I was gonna do different FromSoftware bosses from all games since Nightreign is a multiverse game, but I’m lazy and it’s my last year of uni, so I don’t want to spend time grinding bosses instead of doing work,” Chickensandwich420 explained in their first video.
So far, the player has successfully completed 23 days of the challenge but has revealed that if Nightreign isn’t out by June, they’ll need to branch out into other games.

According to developers, Nightreign has been created to “offer players a new gaming experience by reimagining the game’s core design”.
“I created Nightreign to be a new thrilling type of gameplay with that familiar sense of accomplishment and overcoming tough odds that players are familiar with,” game director Junya Ishizaki recently told IGN.
Last year, Elden Ring boss Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that Shadow Of The Erdtree was the first and only expansion for the game. “We don’t have any current plans to make a second DLC or a sequel, but we definitely don’t want to snuff out that possibility,” he added, teasing a potential future for the franchise.
In other news, it seems that Black Ops 6 is losing players at a massive rate after the game had the “biggest ever” launch for a Call Of Duty title.
