by Adeline Leong · The Rakyat Post · JoinPeabo Bryson, the two-time Grammy Award-winning R&B singer, has passed at the age of 75.
He was the voice behind Disney classics such as Beauty And The Beast with Celine Dion, and A Whole New World with Regina Belle from Aladdin.
A Whole New World reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100, an amazing feat since it was the first song from an animated film ever to do so. Both songs also earned Best Original Song Oscars at the Academy Awards.
His family shared that Bryson died on Tuesday, days after having a stroke. He had a stroke in late May and was placed under medical care. He previously recovered from a heart attack in 2019.
Belle said she visited Bryson in the hospital on Sunday after he had suffered a stroke. She held his hand and sang in a whisper, A Whole New World and Total Praise, a version of the song that they recorded. She shared that the hardest part of this moment is knowing she could never sing with him again.
Meanwhile, Celine Dion shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram. Dion said Bryson was wonderful and generous to her all those years ago, especially when she was just learning to sing in English. She added that Bryson remains a real symbol of the joy that music has brought to her life.
Bryson’s family requests privacy while they navigate a deeply personal moment together.
While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing how deeply Peabo was loved and how many lives were touched by his voice and his generous spirit. His legacy and music will live on for generations to come. The family’s statement
