Emmerdale Amy Wyatt star Natalie Ann Jamieson shares real reason she’s leaving soap
by Shauna Bannon Ward · RSVP LiveNatalie Ann Jamieson has shared the real reason she’s leaving Emmerdale after her character was killed off.
Amy Wyatt was the third person to die after a limo, filled with villagers, crashed through a frozen lake.
She died from a heart attack after suffering from severe hypothermia from falling into the icy water.

Natalie explained that she wanted her character to have a meaty storyline, however, bosses didn't initially have anything planned for her.
“I had been asking for meetings about what was coming up for Amy and saying that I'd really like some challenging, new stuff,” she told the Mirror.
“They knew they had this coming up and they didn't have anything planned for Amy - and that was the direction that I wanted to go in.”
Emmerdale bosses decided to do something big with Amy, but Natalie didn't realise that it would mean leaving the show. When she first found out that she would be leaving the soap, she didn’t know if she’d prefer Amy to leave the village or be killed off.
She said: “It worked out that this was going to be Amy's exit and I didn't know it was going to be death at first. When they told me, I was like, 'Oh!' It's really hard to know whether you would prefer for your character to die if you're going, or to go in the back of a taxi.
“There's always a chance that you could potentially go back and you've got all your friends there and you love to work there.”
Natalie’s exit was very dramatic as her character plummeted through the icy lake, before being pulled out by Tracy Robinson.
The Emmerdale team built the icy lake in their overflow car park, located behind the village set.
In order to carry out the stunt, they cut a hole in the fake lake to make Natalie's size. While the lake was made of wax, the water underneath it was very cold, which helped to make Amy’s terrifying situation more realistic for Natalie.
She shared: “I had a wetsuit on and it was two o'clock in the morning. I was really scared about that bit.”
