Former Coronation Street star Colson Smith has opened up about his recent appearance on Celebrity Mastermind, in what was one of his first moves since bidding farewell to the soap in May.
Reflecting on his time on the show, Colsonadmitted that it was "hard" as he revealed how he fared on the quiz.
Colson became an instant hit with Corrie fans in his role as Craig Tinker in 2011, joining the show at the same time as his on-screen mum, Beth Tinker (acted by Lisa George).
After an impressive near-14-year stint, Colson’s final dramatic moments aired in May, when viewers watched as Mick Michaelis, played by Joe Layton, violently struck his character with a bat — bringing his time on the show to a close.
Sharing his thoughts on Instagram, Colson expressed: "I've loved every single second of my 14-year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world."
He continued with heartfelt gratitude: "I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on, and around Coronation Street.
"I've learnt pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home."
On his On the Sofa podcast, alongside Corrie stars Jack P. Shepherd and Ben Price, Colson discussed the significance of his move to take part in Celebrity Mastermind, saying: "There was quite a big deal about me going to do Mastermind, because Jack and Ben had both previously said no — you were too scared, weren’t you?"
He candidly shared that his stint on the show was "hard," but added with pride: "I’m proud to say that I did not disgrace myself."
Aside from Mastermind, Colson revealed in another podcast episode that fans can also spot him on The Weakest Link, and he's considering an offer to appear on Pointless — though he’s currently on the lookout for a partner for the show.
Furthermore, the former Corrie star announced via Instagram back in May that he will be taking to the airwaves on BBC Radio Leeds this summer.
Coronation Street is set to air tonight (July 16) on ITV at 8 p. m.
