McFly star Danny Jones has finally spoken out about that 'drunken kiss' with Maura Higgins, publicly apologising to his wife and family on Instagram.
After nearly two weeks of silence, 39 year old Danny expressed his regret for the incident in a statement on Friday. He penned: "Hello everyone, sorry it's taken me a while to post this but I've taken some time out to be with those closest to me. I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we'll continue to deal with this privately."
He continued: "I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. See you all soon, Danny."
The musician faced backlash after being seen in an intimate moment with Maura at the Universal Music BRIT Awards afterparty. They were caught on video appearing to share a kiss on Saturday 1 March, reports OK!.
An insider confided to The Mirror about Danny's feelings: "Danny has been mortified about whats happened and the awful situation he has put everyone in. He cares so deeply about his family and hopes his words will draw a line under what has been a deeply upsetting time, for everyone.
Georgia and his son are absolutely everything to him. Throughout all this, he has been so thankful for the support of his fans. He just wants to move on, and heal in private."]
According to reports, Danny and Georgia, parents to little Cooper, are still very much a couple and are trying to navigate through the recent drama. "They are clearly looking to put things behind them, and move on with their lives. It really hasn't been a good time at all but they are very much together," an insider revealed to the Mirror.
