Britain's Got Talent has returned to ITV for its eighteenth series, prompting viewers to reminisce about previous winners such as Diversity, Paul Potts and Sydnie Christmas.

Among the early victors was George Sampson, who clinched the title in the second series back in 2008 at the age of 14.

Now 31, George wowed the judges with his dance routines, most notably his performance to Mint Royale's remix of Singin' in the Rain, which featured an on-stage artificial rain machine.

Seventeen years post-final, George has since ventured into acting and identifies himself as a 'gamer/nerd' on his Instagram account, boasting an impressive following of 68.9K.

After his Britain's Got Talent stint, he joined the cast of Waterloo Road in 2011, playing Kyle Stack until 2013, reports Wales Online.

He subsequently secured roles in Mount Pleasant as Gary, Casualty as Callum Bradley, The Dumping Ground as Danny and made an appearance in Emmerdale as Ryan Harred in 2016.

In addition to his television roles, George has also participated in numerous theatre productions, including Everybody's Talking About Jamie, where he played Dean Paxton from 2019 to 2022, performing in venues across the West End and Los Angeles.

Most recently, George graced the stage in Cinderella as Prince Charming from 2022 to 2023 and Snow White as Prince George in 2023.

The Britain's Got Talent winner often gives his fans a glimpse into his life on social media, including his gaming hobby and trips down memory lane.

Last year, he posted a funny video attempting to recreate his iconic lamppost swing, the very move that won him Britain's Got Talent in 2008.

Captioned "Can I still swing from a lamppost? #bgt", he jokingly questioned whether he could still pull it off 16 years later before successfully performing the impressive stunt.

Responding in the comments, one person said: "Got it? Never lost it!", a different account wrote: "oh my days, how was this 16 years ago?!", another put: "Blimey has it really been 16 years I was in high school when I he won bgt!" while a different fan added: "16 years!? My god when did I get so old!?"

George also reunited with previous Britain's Got Talent winners, Paul Potts and Sydnie Christmas, earlier this year in February. He penned: "Some trio this!"

Britain's Got Talent continues on Saturday nights on ITV and ITV X.
