The Chase viewers fume over 'ridiculous' question about little-known wedding rule

by · DevonLive

Viewers of The Chase were left astonished by a surprising wedding fact revealed during tonight's episode of the hit ITV quiz show hosted by Bradley Walsh. On Thursday's (13 March) episode, Bradley introduced four new contestants to face off against the Chaser, Anne Hegerty, who is also popularly known as the Governess.

The team of challengers Andrew hailing from Oldham, Karen of Whickham, Ashleigh from Norfolk, and Leeds-based Sam combined forces, aiming to outwit the renowned quizzing expert with their collective trivia prowess.

During the game, an intriguing question related to wedding traditions took centre stage: "In England, what is normally the earliest time of day a wedding ceremony can start in an Anglican church?" The possible answers provided were 8am, 10am, or 12pm.

A contestant opted for midday, reasoning: "Just because people need to get ready?" However, they were soon corrected when it was announced that the 'true' answer is actually 8am, much to the surprise of those tuning in.

Social media buzzed with reactions, as one viewer exclaimed on X/Twitter: "#TheChase Blimey, who gets married at 8am? You'd have to be up in the middle of the night to get ready." (sic)

Meanwhile, another tweeted in disbelief: "How the f*** are people supposed to be ready to get ready at 8am? ! ! ... #TheChase." Another viewer confessed their ignorance, posting: "8am, never knew. Seems way too early #TheChase." (sic)

Yet another chimed in with a similarly incredulous reaction: "WTF would want to get married at 8am #thechase." (sic)

Earlier this week, fans and chaser Jenny Ryan were left baffled by a "ridiculous" question regarding the Hollywood Walk of Fame, reports the Express.

Host Bradley posed the question: "As of 2023, what was the fee for having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?" The options presented were £750, £7,500, or a whopping £75,000.

Susan from Stoke-on-Trent, quick to respond, confidently chose the highest figure, declaring: "I'm going high. I think those people can afford it." Bradley expressed his skepticism, remarking: "I don't think it's that. I think it's B."

To everyone's surprise, Susan's guess of £75,000 was spot on. Bradley congratulated her, saying: "Well played, one step closer from home," and revealed that the Chaser had also been mistaken, having agreed with his initial doubt.

Jenny Ryan did not offer an explanation for her incorrect choice.

The Chase airs on weekdays on ITV at 5pm
