James Corden's brutal admission over 'hard' marriage ahead of huge family decision

James Corden, star of Gavin and Stacey, has candidly discussed the challenges of marriage after being wedded to his wife Julia Carey for over a decade. The English actor, who shares three children with Julia, tied the knot in 2012 following three years of courtship.

In a previous interview with Prime Video, the former Late, Late Show host offered fans a rare insight into his personal life. Speaking about his marital journey, James emphasised the importance of "evolving" alongside his partner, while acknowledging that maintaining their relationship hasn't always been straightforward.

He stated: "It's funny with marriage-no one ever really talks about just how f***ing hard it is sometimes. Like, the sacrifice that you and your partner have to make."

He continued: "What you're both trying to do is grow together, knowing that you're never staying the same. You're constantly evolving."

He added: "And if you're not evolving, then you might as well be dead: you have to be moving and evolving at the same time as someone else.", reports Wales Online.

James was introduced to Julia by his friend and co-star from The History Boys, Dominic Cooper. The 46 year old actor relocated to Hollywood in 2013 when he was offered the opportunity to host The Late, Late Show.

However, according to the New York Post, the Fat Friends actor announced in 2022 that he would be leaving the show the following year due to family reasons.

James Corden has spoken about his decision to relocate back to the UK after spending several years in the US hosting The Late Late Show. He explained that the move was largely driven by a desire for his children to have a stronger connection with their grandparents and extended family in Britain.

Corden stated: "My son was 3 when we moved [to America], my daughter was 12 weeks. When we left, he was 12, my daughter was 8, and our younger daughter - who is an American, and we treat her as such...No, really for us, it was the notion that it was time."

He further elaborated on the motivations behind the move, saying: "We wanted them to know their grandparents. And with my son finishing 6th grade, it was just an absolute pull to go home, and root that period of their lives in - we wanted them to know Britain, and their extended family."

In a previous interview with The Morning Show in December 2022, James had expressed similar sentiments about leaving The Late Late Show, citing the distance from their family in the UK as a major factor. He said: "The reason to leave is we're a long way from home in Los Angeles. And there [are] people at home that are getting older, and we want our kids to know them and be around them."

James, along with his wife Julia, a TV producer, and their children Max, 12, Carey, 9, and Charlotte, 7, have now settled into their new home in Belsize Park, north London.
