23-Year-Old "9-1-1: Nashville" Actor Isabelle Tate's Cause Of Death Has Been Revealed
by Ron Dicker · BuzzFeedIsabelle Tate, the 9-1-1: Nashville actor who died at age 23 recently, succumbed to a neurological disorder called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, her agent said Thursday.
Kim McCray, founder of The McCray Agency, told Entertainment Weekly that Tate had a rare form of the disease, which damages the nerves and weakens muscles.
She was using a wheelchair, TMZ reported. In the Oct. 9 pilot episode of the ABC rescue drama, her character Julie appeared in a wheelchair at a club, where she was insulted by another patron after Julie said her view was blocked. She was then approached by a male dancer/firefighter (Hunter McVey) stripped to the waist. “What are you doing?” Julie asked.
She “passed away peacefully” on Sunday, McCray noted in the email.
The Nashville native, who graduated from Middle Tennessee State University, recently returned to acting, McCray said previously. Her first audition was for 9-1-1, and she apparently nailed it, securing her first professional dramatic role.
“Isabelle was full of fire, a fighter, never once making excuses for the fact that she might have a disability relative to others,” her obituary read. “She was also quite musically inclined, often spending hours writing and recording songs with her friends and even publishing a few.”
EW noted that she will be honored during the airing of next Thursday’s episode.
