What's so surprising about a black dress you may ask? Well, just last year at the premiere's for Wicked, she was consistently glad in pink, mirroring her character, Glinda's pallet of choice. So the stark change-up has us wondering if it's also a reflection of Glinda's character arc.

And who better to ask than the stylist involved in curating the outfit, Law Roach, who we spoke to at the premiere last night.

Law revealed that the dress was made by costume designer Gilbert Adrian in 1952 for the film Lovely To Look At.

Law went on to reveal that Gilbert Adrian was in fact the costume designer for the original Wizard of Oz film, saying 'There's a lot of history on this carpet tonight with that dress... We had to pay homage to Hollywood history."

Naturally, we asked if we were going to see less pink coming up for both Ariana and Glinda, and Law gave us an intriguing answer:
"You’re going have to wait and watch; I think the wardrobe has matured just like the character in the movie, so once you see the movie you'll understand that Glinda from the first Wicked and Glinda from Wicked: For Good are two different people living inside of one person, and you’ll also see that in how the clothes have changed from last press tour to this one.

You can see Wicked: For Good on the 21st of November in the UK!
