The tech entrepreneur shared that his AI company, Grok Imagine, will create a new version of Homer's epic by the end of the year.

Elon shared his plans on X:

"Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer"

His post also included a three-minute clip of a scene featuring his version of Odysseus and Calypso, which was produced by Grok Imagine.

For people puzzled by the "historically accurate" part of this statement, you're right. The Odyssey is based on mythology. And mythology by definition means "legend." And although they can be loosely inspired by historical events, legends are "heavily embellished." Just so we're clear.

In the weeks up to Christopher Nolan's Odyssey, Elon had repeatedly expressed his distaste on X, namely with Lupita Nyong'o in the role of Helen of Troy and Elliot Page as the brave warrior called Sinon: "One of the dumbest and twisted things I’ve ever heard," he wrote of Elliot's role in particular.

As you can imagine, people have tons of thoughts about Elon's AI version of The Odyssey. Here's what they're saying on Twitter, um, I mean, X:

"'Historically accurate.' There is a cyclops."

"It’s very important to note here that he did not say it was going to be good."

@FungusCarl82090 / Via x.com

"Historically accurate? You’re aware it’s a mythological poem, right?"

@DamirBilalov / Via x.com

"No thanks. The people want real actors. Use AI to help humanity, not entertain us. Also, humans are allowed to have their own take on a story if it's not historical fact. It's the fun part about being different."

@G3Mini_SiX7 / Via x.com

"It's an imagined story that feature cyclops and mermaids my dude... There is nothing historical about it."

@devchart / Via x.com

"Oh man, I was having a laugh about Elon using grok to make an AI version of Odyssey 😂 Historically accurate AI movie."

@Glitter_Spite / Via x.com

"Does historically accurate mean the gods and monsters will be in it."

@thekinocorner / Via x.com

"How many times will he copy and paste 'make them white.'"

@Sigma_Fisch / Via x.com

"He's mad a fictional character that was white was a black woman in this movie.. what a sad pathetic little empty man he is.. my goodness.."

@rdeol7280 / Via x.com

"You mean with all white people?"
