'Akshay Kumar Is Not Selling Drugs', Paresh Rawal Defends The Former For Doing Multiple Films A Year

Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal have been the industry's favourite comic pairing, and the audience is as excited to see them together on the big screen again. However, while the duo being cast in a film is not confirmed yet, their friendship is a huge nod and time and again, the actors have proved the same. And recently, Paresh once again came forward to defend his friend.

Paresh Rawal defends Akshay Kumar for doing multiple films every year

Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal have been a wonderful duo on screen. From being Priyadarshan's favourite duo in films like Hera Pheri, Phir Hera Pheri, Bhaagam Bhaag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Garam Masala, to working together in a spectrum of films including OMG: Oh My God, Aitraaz, and Sarfira, the duo has worked in films together for over three decades. And their friendship has stood its ground despite the whips and slaps of the industry's changing times.

Paresh Rawal's recent interview was a testament to their strong bond as the actor stood by his friend like nobody's business. He recently sat down to have a conversation with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, where he was asked about Akshay Kumar's decision to do multiple films a year and if it was affecting the quality of his project selection. Responding to the interviewer, he stated:

"Honestly, what is your problem if he does so many films? People go to him to make the films, right? As a producer, I would sign an actor only if I can account for the money I am investing."

In the same conversation, Paresh Rawal further mentioned how it was completely unfair to raise questions about Akshay Kumar's decision to do multiple films. He stated that Akshay was not selling drugs or indulging in some bad habits; he was just working as much as he could. He also added that Akshay doing half a dozen films every year was providing employment to thousands of people. He was quoted saying:

"He just likes to work. He isn’t smuggling, bootlegging, selling drugs, or gambling. He is just working as much as he possibly can. And more importantly, his films are also a source of employment for thousands. Where is the problem?"

In the same conversation, Paresh Rawal was asked about his long-standing friendship with Akshay Kumar. The actor responded by stating that there was no insecurity between them, as he knew they were two extremely different actors. Paresh shared his experience working with his OMG co-star and also mentioned what made Akshay stand out from other actors and stated:

"There is no insecurity. I know I can’t do what he does. Be it the action or being a really good-looking guy. He is not just extremely hardworking but very honest, too. There is no hidden agenda when he converses with you. The integrity is top-notch, and he is a proper family man. It feels nice to talk to him and be around him. Working with him is fun; money is just an added bonus."
