In a recent interview, Matt and Sadie opened up about their bond and the characters they played in the series, Every Year After. Matt explained that what really intrigued him about the character he portrayed, 'Sam', was the "silliness and goofiness whenever he is comfortable with somebody." Matt shared that he is very much like 'Sam' in real life. Explaining in detail, Matt said:

"I'm very much the same way. When I'm comfortable with someone, I am a dork. I love seeing that side of him. I also love seeing how real he can be, and he really wears his heart on his sleeve, and tries to be honest with Percy. Sometimes it's really hard for him to really let her know how he's feeling."

In the same interview, Matt got candid about his bond with his co-star, Sadie. He revealed that they met during a Zoom audition and had an instant connection. Sadie chimed in and said, "I feel like it actually felt quite instant. We got on really well." Explaining the similarities between Sadie and her character, 'Percy', Matt said:

"Sadie is the absolute perfect Percy. She brings this joy and this fun to Percy. I think Percy is someone that inherently is such a goofball in so many ways, and I think that is a reason why Sam falls so in love with her. She's this little dork and nerd, and so cute. Sadie is an adorable dork, and nerd, and I love her to death."

Further in the same interview, Sadie got candid about her bond with Matt. She called Matt brilliant and kind. She also lauded Matt’s performance in the series, Every Year After. It is worth noting that Sadie and Matt share an age gap of 3 years. She was quoted as saying:

"Matt is — he's just so brilliant. He's so earnest and kind. He so loves this story, and he loves Sam, and it's been really, so beautiful getting... I could get emotional, but it's been really beautiful seeing him create Sam."
