Popular Nigerian cleric Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, also known as Odumeje, has encouraged Afrobeats star Davido following his loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Naija News reports that during a church service, Odumeje played down the value of the Grammy Awards, saying Davido’s success and place in music go beyond trophies.

He told the congregation that the singer’s name, career, and influence already place him above any award platform.

The cleric described Davido as a rare talent whose life and journey in music stand as an achievement on their own.

According to him, the singer has already received all the recognition he needs through his impact on fans and the music industry.

Odumeje also urged Davido not to allow criticism or disappointment affect his joy or confidence.

He encouraged the singer to stay focused, draw fresh inspiration, and continue making music that will surprise the world.

He warned him against paying attention to people or places where his efforts are not appreciated.

He further advised Davido to be cautious of negative voices, saying the singer has already reached a high level in life and should not allow anyone weaken his drive or reduce his value.

Davido was nominated for Best African Music Performance at the 68th Grammy Awards for his song With You, a collaboration with Omah Lay.

Other nominees in the category included Burna Boy, Wizkid and Ayra Starr, as well as Tyla, who won the award for the second year in a row.
