My Daughters Deserve Better Than What I Endured – Annie Macaulay
by Doris Ijeoma Israel · Naija NewsNollywood actress Annie Macaulay has once again drawn attention with a message that many believe points to her past experiences with her ex-husband, music star Innocent “2Baba” Idibia.
Naija News reports that the actress posted on Instagram on Monday, expressing her hope that her daughter would make better choices than she did and always recognise her value.
She wrote: ”I hope my daughter doesn’t accept things I’ve accepted, that she knows her worth from the start and that no matter what, she always has me in her corner.”
The post stirred reactions, with many linking it to the ups and downs of her marriage and her recent separation.
Annie had earlier confirmed the end of her marriage to 2Baba in May 2025 during the 17th Headies Awards in Atlanta.
While presenting an award, she corrected herself after almost introducing her surname as Idibia before settling for Macaulay, then playfully addressed single women in the audience.
The moment was widely seen as her first public acknowledgment of being single.
Her ex-husband had already announced the split in January 2025, ending a union that lasted more than a decade.
The couple, who got married in 2013, have two daughters together.
Their relationship was often in the public eye, as Annie faced years of controversies linked to 2Baba’s other relationships with Pero Adeniyi and Sunmbo Adeoye, both of whom have children for him.
With six children from three women, the musician’s private life was a constant subject of entertainment gossip.
