Ashley St. Clair Thinks Elon Musk Is Causing ‘Deliberate Division’ Through X

Hell hath no fury like an ex whose silence you tried to buy. Ashley St. Clair reportedly declined a $40 million NDA payout and a $100,000 monthly stipend from her ex Elon Musk and is using her voice as an interview subject in Alex Gibney’s upcoming documentary, Musk. At the film’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival, St. Clair warned that Musk’s X platform is causing a greater divide in an already intense political climate. “Whatever it is, what he’s doing with this platform on X cannot be ignored, because he is stoking flames that don’t exist in the real world,” she said, per The Guardian. “He is creating something that is causing real-world effects with all of these inputs on X. I do believe that he is causing deliberate division that may be catastrophic if it’s not regulated or tamed, or if we don’t do our part in putting it down.” Musk bought Twitter and renamed it X in 2022, causing a mass exodus of celebrities and non–Musk fans alike.

St. Clair first met Musk in 2023; she was a conservative MAGA influencer who worked for the Babylon Bee and Turning Point USA. She gave birth to Musk’s 13th child in 2024 and filed for full custody in February 2025. She apologized for her transphobic views in January and said she felt “immense guilt” for her role in promoting hate speech. “That ignorance does not excuse any role in that,” she said at Venice. “And I hope the risk that I’m taking now, and speaking out and trying to fight back, that that at least helps a little bit.”
