Olivia Rodrigo May Just ‘Drop Dead’ in Versailles

Shockingly, Olivia Rodrigo does not want her ex to “drop dead.” The music video for the lead single off her upcoming album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, dropped today and despite the morose title, “drop dead” is not an evisceration —it’s a meet-cute. The lyrics follow Rodrigo as she meets a guy at a bar whom she’s secretly been obsessing over. “Kiss me and I might drop dead,” she sings, already imagining their walk home together. She’s describing the moment a crush becomes a potential romance. “You know all the words to ‘Just Like Heaven,’” Rodrigo sings, referring to the 1987 the Cure song. “And I know why he wrote them.”

The music video, directed by Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U” collaborator Petra Collins, skips the pub and gores straight to the Palace of Versailles. Wearing a purple ruffled nightgown, Rodrigo runs around the opulent halls, thrilled to be head over heels for this new boy, whom she says is “lookin’ like an angel on the walls of Versailles.” 

So who’s the guy who’s got Rodrigo weak in the knees? Probably actor Louis Partridge. The two began dating in 2023, and The Sun reported that they broke up in December 2025. Rodrigo sings on the bridge that they are a “Pisces and a Gemini,” and Partridge is a confirmed June Gemini, so it tracks that the song chronicles the beginning of their ultimately doomed romance. On the other hand, she was recently seen getting dinner with Geese front man Cameron Winter, and the music video features a swan, which is basically a goose. Maybe it’s about both?
