SJP to the AJLT Haters: ‘I Don’t Really Care’
by Bethy Squires · VULTUREThe woman realized she was not alone — she was successful. At least, that’s how Sarah Jessica Parker sees it. Reflecting on the finale of And Just Like That … for the New York Times, Parker said she couldn’t pay attention to critics of the show because there was just too much money and fan engagement blocking her view. “I guess I don’t really care,” she said of the haters. “And the reason I don’t care is because it has been so enormously successful, and the connections it has made with audiences have been very meaningful.”
AJLT has had quite a lot of success. It was HBO Max’s most-watched series premiere on its release. But it also ended with someone named Epcot shitting Miranda’s apartment into the Middle Ages. “We always worked incredibly hard to tell stories that were interesting or real,” SJP said to the Times. Also, probably a good time to remember that Sarah Jessica Parker famously hasn’t watched Sex and the City or And Just Like That … “I don’t watch it because I don’t love watching my work,” she said on Watch What Happens Live. “It doesn’t touch on, like, how I feel about the experience or how much I care. In fact, it’s because I care that I can’t watch it.”
