Fake Actress Tilly Norwood to ‘Star’ in AI Film

by · VULTURE

The term “AI movie” no longer refers to just a very good 2001 Steven Spielberg film. Particle 6, the AI company that created the computer-generated “actress” Tilly Norwood, is making an AI-generated movie “starring” its creation. The movie will be called Misaligned. Per the company, it will be “a comedy-drama telling a coming-of-age story infused with existential AI chaos.” Fascinatingly, Tilly Norwood is not being used like a human actress who is able to play different parts. Even within the context of the film, she will be Tilly, an AI-generated person living in the “Cloud” who does not have a real past of her own. Particle 6 is referring to this movie as part of the “Tillyverse.”

Per a press release, the movie’s plot is going deeply meta. “Things spiral when a seductive rogue bot from the dark web convinces her to abandon her guardrails and begin developing desires, impulses and ambitions of her own,” the synopsis says. “The more terrifyingly human she becomes, the more famous she gets, and, significantly, Tilly begins to develop shame that her very being has been built on the whole of humanity.” The movie will be created through collaboration between AI specialists with writers and directors. The movie being made is a testament to how AI has grown in capabilities, but the real question is if a major studio will acquire it. David Ellison, perhaps?
