The BTS Comeback Album Is Already Breaking Streaming Records
by Bethy Squires · VULTUREArirang, BTS’s highly-anticipated comeback album, has only been out for hours but it’s already breaking records. Should we expect anything less from the ARMY? According to Spotify, Arirang is already the most-streamed K-pop album in the app’s history, as well as the most-streamed album in a single day of 2026. Pop Crave has additional laurels with which to crown Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook. The album has debuted with 110 million streams in its first day of release. BTS own the top 14 spots on Global Spotify, with every song on the album charting.
The chart-topper is track 7, “Swim,” which is also the lead single. The song’s music video features the band on an emotional yacht outing with Lili Reinhart. “A song that mirrors life itself. I hope it resonates with many people as they move through each day, taking each moment as it comes, splashing along, and continuing to swim forward,” the group said of the track in a statement obtained by People.
Arirang is named after a Korean folk song, which became even more popular as a song of resistance during Japanese occupation. The band said they wanted to emphasize their Korean identity with album. “Just like the folk song ‘Arirang,’ which has been passed from mouth to mouth and stayed with people through generations,” the band said, “I hope ‘SWIM’ will remain close to people’s hearts for a long time to come.”
