Druski Will Host SNL on November 7
by Hershal Pandya · VULTUREDruski is nothing if not an accomplished shapeshifter. In wildly popular sketch-comedy videos released over the past year, he has seamlessly morphed into a megachurch pastor, a conservative white woman bearing an uncanny resemblance to Erica Kirk, a washed-up child actor gone awry, and more. That knack for character work will serve the comedian well as he attempts his next ambitious transformation: SNL host. Vulture has confirmed a Puck report that Druski will host the famed sketch show’s November 7 episode, marking the first time the show has enlisted a host primarily known for their work in the digital space.
SNL should prove a natural showing ground for Druski’s talents, even if the show’s breakneck pace means he won’t have time to sit for elaborate whiteface makeup between sketches. He could do a sketch as the CEO of Coulda Been Records, auditioning SNL cast members doing musical impressions; bring back his megachurch pastor like he did when he hosted the BET Awards earlier this year; and even tap his absurdly large Rolodex of celebrity friends (Kevin Hart, Justin Bieber, etc.) for cameos. His videos also tend to generate a lot of capital-D Discourse online, and if we’ve learned anything from SNL’s continuous booking of one particular stand-up comedian with strong opinions about women’s gym attire, this is one of the show’s primary KPIs.
